What exactly did the historical collection rooms at the Schaumainkai look like in 1878? How did the architecture affect the presented artworks? Wander from one room to the other!
With our free downloadable software you can virtually enter the historical collection rooms of the Städel Museum of 1878 in a 3D simulation. In order to experience the rooms from inside, you only need a regular PC with a Windows operating system or the virtual reality headset "Samsung Gear VR" with a compatible smartphone.
Two audio tours take you through the historical rooms in a completely new way. You will experience the architecture of the museum, which opened in 1878 at the Schaumainkai in Frankfurt, and discover well-known and unknown works at their historical location.

With the free app for your Samsung smartphone, you can experience the historical collection rooms of the Städel Museum everywhere and independently of a computer, with help of the virtual reality glasses Samsung Gear VR. When using the app, an internet connection is not required. A Samsung smartphone with Galaxy S6 edge +, S6, S6 edge, S7 and S7 edge models is required.
At the museum, we offer guided tours with VR glasses.

Make your experience of the historical reconstruction of the 1878 Städel Museum even more immersive! Download the free software for your Windows PC to virtually stroll through the gallery rooms. You can choose between two audio tours or opt to explore the museum freely.
Save the zip file, unpack it and start the application "Staedel_Zeitreise.exe". Turn on the speaker.
Your PC should have a keyboard, mouse, 200 MB of free memory and the following system requirements:
