comment

Removed from the collection with the remark: “Schwaches glatt gemaltes Bild” (“Weak, smoothly painted painting”). According to an inventory entry, the work was probably a Dutch copy after Tintoretto (Scuola Grande di San Rocco, Venice). As a substitute we show the reproduction print referred to in the inventory (Aegidius Sadeler, engraving, Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, inv.-no. RP-P-OB-5089).
